Horsin’ Around in Virginia

This week has been SO beautiful here at training. We had a free afternoon today so I went out for a walk and found these friendly horses. 🙂 Unfortunately the owner was not happy because we were apparently “trespassing” so then we had to leave… I for real felt like I was Katniss from the Hunger Games though… leaving the fenced-in town to experience some freedom then gets sent back… haha! It wasn’t exactly like that but our training center IS gated with security and stuff and you can’t just walk out.

Here at training everything is provided for us! We live in little apartments that fit 4-5 families each, with a shared living room. We eat in a cafeteria for all of our meals, and it basically feels like college 2.0, except everyone’s married and there are lots of children! During the morning and afternoons we sit through trainings- some are in classrooms and sometimes it’s like a practical training. Like tomorrow we go into town to map it out and meet people!

Fall in Virginia looks incredible right now. The trees are turning bright beautiful reds and browns, and the air is crisp and fresh. I’ve met so many amazing people, and it’s so fun being around people in the same stage of life as me and Trenton! From meal time to movie nights to workout classes, it’s just really great to be surrounded by such a great group of people. And at least three couples will be in East Asia with us during language school!

We have less than three weeks left! I don’t want it to end! But I must admit, I am more excited than ever to move to East Asia. ♥

On another note, I am currently loving this new brand called Tobi. My bodysuit and leggings are from there and they are so comfy! I definitely recommend.

Have a great week and Happy Halloween! I’m currently watching Clue. This was my favorite board game as a kid and I literally win every time I play. Unless i play with Trenton, he’s the only one who can beat me. Ha!

  1. For a moment, haha, I got confused, and thought of the movie, “Clueless,” and then I was like, “Oh, right!” The photos are lovely!!! That would be nice to be in a community like that. I wish my husband and I had something like that. I’m not outgoing, so I don’t go out of my way to meet new people. We’ve moved here in July and I don’t know anyone lol. But it’s not really lonely because I’m used to this, as sad as it might sound haha, it really isn’t. I’ve learned to be very comfortable in my own skin, being an introvert, and trusting God will provide for where He wants me to go, who to be around. A couple of years ago, this was an issue, but now, not so much. It also helps I have this blogging community, and then of course connection to my family and friends through social media. 🙂 Wish you amazing more autumn days!

    1. haha! Thanks girl! I’m sorry you are having trouble finding a close community. I know it is so hard to move somewhere new. I can definitely relate- I am an introvert as well! If it were not for my local ch-rch, I probably would not have had any friends the past few years since getting married! Everything changes once you get married- I remember having loadssss of friends in high school and college, but as we get older, it becomes harder and harder to find good friends. I highly recommend plugging into a ch-rch with like minded people, this is a great way to find community who cares 🙂

      1. It’s hard to find that too. Since a church has broken people, as it should, sometimes…people don’t grow and form bonds within themselves. They don’t know how to reach out. I admit, the last time I tried to be part of a church it didn’t work, and it left deep wounds. I asked God to help me provide the church, and He did, literally, months later. A new couple moved down beside me and they were having bible studies in their home while waiting to find a building to have church in. Part of me feels, I need to just trust God and wait for something to fall in my hands because I don’t want to be bitter. I don’t want to feel used in trying to find a new church. I am happy to say, God’s provided teaching for me, and a strong connection to others, even if I can’t hang out with them physically. Thank you for your kind words 🙂 God be with you and strengthen you.

  3. Where in Asia are you headed? I’m so wanting to go to Asia, too. Funny, I’ve never visited and really want to! I also have recently fallen in love with horses. Wish I had had access to them when I was a girl. I have a feeling I would have ended up a pony gal 😉 Best wishes for the rest of your training and to all that awaits in Asia!
